Out of this World Counselor

Have you ever been so emotionally distraught that it affected you physically?  Have you felt so thrashed by misunderstandings that you couldn’t think straight?

These are desperate times.

You need someone who’s going to assess the situation honestly and fairly, someone who’s going to fully, wholly, perfectly love, understand and guide you in the way you should go.

There’s only one such person, and that’s the Holy Spirit.

Toward the end of His earthly ministry, when speaking with His beloved followers, Christ Jesus said:

I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever – the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you…  All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.  John 14:16-17,25-26

Thank you, Father, that You never leave us lonely.

Thank you, sweet Counselor, for your place of quiet peace.  Help me seek You.

Thank you that you wait to welcome me in Your beautiful presence.  Patiently…

Downloading hope…  Fanning my spirits with angel wings.

Thank you that you listen like no other, knowing how I tick.  You’re listening now…

May I seek You first.  Always.

Take my ache, dry my tears, calm my heart, still my fears.

You know the truth… because You ARE the Truth.

Be my Way, my Life, my way to life today.

I seek to understand You back.

Help me seek to understand my offenders, more than I seek to be understood by them.

Thank you that I can choose to love and forgive them.  Again and again.  As long as it takes.  Right now.  Like you have forgiven me, yesterday, today, and forever.

Sweet, honest, perfect, ever-present, Holy Counselor…
