Trust I Must

Trust I Must

My Mac time capsule/wireless router overheated to an early death, so I don’t know when I’ll be able to post this.  I don’t know if I’ll get the device working again. Lord, help.  All my written words transfer through our wireless connection!  I feel disconnected from the source. I laugh at how computer-dependent I sound.  God is my only Source, and nothing can out-power our connection, not even mechanics. I sigh because I still don’t know when I’ll be able to “send” this message; but I choose to rejoice because I know Sovereign God says, “My timing is perfect. Trust me.” ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Fast forward three days to today:  Although we’re past the warranty, Apple sent us a new improved Time Capsule at no charge. God reminded me of something. The morning before the TC “checked out,” I felt strangely compelled to pray over it.  Something I’d never done before.  I prayed God would give us many long years with it. Looking back at the incident, I realize God used it to remind me of the power of prayer.  God would take care of me and lead me through the ups and downs. Have your setbacks ever proven to become steps forward?  God, who sees the end from the beginning, continually filters our life circumstances through His loving hands! “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”  Romans...

Pregnant with Empathy

Pregnant with Empathy

He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering.  Isaiah 53:3 Hundreds of years B.C., the prophet Isaiah predicted Christ’s gruesome suffering. Unlike Christ, we humans rarely choose pain.  We flee from it. Mothers accept pain to produce children, but have you ever noticed pain doesn’t stop then?  Physical pain turns emotional when our beloved children make poor and costly decisions according to their “free will.” Jesus was pregnant with this type of pain as He gazed over the city, crying, “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!” (Luke 13:34) When we ache for loved ones, it helps to remember that God cares about them even more. The following random inspiration isn’t from “A Friend in the Storm,” but I pray it hugs your broken heart with hope.  You’re not alone. You suffer with the suffering, and so I suffer too. My tear-stained cheeks, for weeks and weeks still nestle close to you. Though night pervades, when next to Me, My light will blaze you on. Each shadow in your wilderness will soon break into dawn. ~From “A Friend in the...

Faith Lift

Faith Lift

Human beings are prone to choose their steps out of fear. We’re not exactly known as lovers of the unknown. When we choose to step closer to Christ, we step closer to light. Seeing better, we trust better. God often only gives us enough light for the step we’re on. Reaching our dreams starts with a single step. Brave one, are you ready to take your first faith-full step today? “Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.” Psalm...

Honest Rest

Honest Rest

I don’t know about you, but my mind doesn’t automatically fill with holy truth. It’s flesh-clad bent pulls toward empty darkness, to the destructive side of youth. Worldly pollution builds like dust.  Naturally. Seductive lies come disguised as truth. God’s Word is purest truth, dividing errors in two. God’s Spirit applies truth to broken lives. God’s broken Son endured the world’s worst storm to help us through. Christ is the perfect picture of rest and trust. The more we’re filled with Christ, the more we’re filled with rest. “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”  Matthew...
