In that night God appeared to Solomon, and said to him, “Ask what I shall give you.” And Solomon said to God, “You have shown great and steadfast love to David my father, and have made me king in his place. O Lord God, let your word to David my father be now fulfilled, for you have made me king over a people as numerous as the dust of the earth. Give me now wisdom and knowledge to go out and come in before this people, for who can govern this people of yours, which is so great?”
God answered Solomon, “Because this was in your heart, and you have not askedfor possessions, wealth, honor, or the life of those who hate you, and have not even asked for long life, but have asked wisdom and knowledge for yourself that you may govern my people over whom I have made you king, wisdom and knowledge are granted to you. I will also give you riches, possessions, and honor, such as none of the kings had who were before you, and none after you shall have the like.” 2 Chronicles 1:7-12
Notice how, when Solomon prayed according to God’s will, God gave him favor, granting him the other lesser desires of his heart as well.
Solomon embraced God’s way.
To desire wisdom is to desire the mind of Christ because Christ embodies wisdom. He is our true direction in life. Remember He said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.” John 14:6 He carries us beyond our salvation experience.
He loves our request for wisdom and knowledge over our request for physical things (even safety), because He knows our sinful flesh wants to lean on itself, on its own fleshly means of security and protection, while our renewed spirit NEEDS to rely on the power and wisdom of His Holy Spirit ~ in all we do.
Since Jesus, “the way,” wants God’s people to stay on course, He calls us to “Seek Him first.”
To seek Him first is to seek His Kingdom, His invaluable personable presence. That’s where we can expect His supernatural best.
“…and all these other things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33
Will you join me in praying, that above all power, money and influence, our nation’s leaders would seek first God’s perfect Kingdom, a Kingdom that’s rooted in love and wisdom? Such a quest can make a radical difference for God’s glory and eternity. Thank you, and Amen!
Happy National Day of Prayer!
Please feel free to pray that God showers specific leaders that are on your heart with wisdom in their decisions. As you share your comments, we’ll agree with you in all wisdom.
For His Kingdom,

Just came across this verse during my quiet time this morning.
Isaiah 33:5-7
The LORD is exalted, for he dwells on high;
he will fill Zion with his justice and righteousness.
He will be the sure foundation for your times,
a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge;
the fear of the LORD is the key to this treasure.
And of course, we all know, “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.”
(We read that directly in Job 28:28, Psalm 111:9, Prov 1:7, Prov 9:10, and it’s rephrased in other passages, so it’s huge!)
Lord, may the leaders in my State of MN wise up and fear You. May they allow You to clothe them in Your righteousness. May they not compromise, but rather, uphold Your righteousness. In Jesus’ name!
….
Feel free to add your prayers and comments.
Blessings!
