Unity

by Cheryl · In: Blog, Encouragement, Transformation · on Mar 12, 2019

Unity is as important to God as ever, but often a downer when we stare at the church’s apparent lack of it. Even the word “unity” strikes a barrage of thoughts and questions. What does it mean? What does God want? After all, He made us all different, right? Let’s cut to the chase. He wants us all to seek His face. The more we spend time with Him, the more we become like Him. The more we become like Him, the more we become unified in our hearts. Dwight and I have matching wedding rings to signify this. The …

Depositing in Dreamers

by Cheryl · In: Blog, Encouragement, Transformation · on May 9, 2013

“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.” Matthew 5:14

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16

Destiny Song

by Cheryl · In: Blog, Encouragement · on Feb 28, 2013

Hey friend! Every now and then I like to write a random song and pray it blesses you.   This one flowed quickly and effortlessly.   I simply sang it out and jotted it down.   Maybe that’s why I’m a little nervous to share it here right now.  When I’m tired.  When I’ve already taken a lot of risks this week (already met my risk quota). But amidst the busyness of my new book project, I’ve missed you and I’ve wanted to share at least one new thing God slipped in my heart. So here goes… However this finds …

Baby Steps

by Cheryl · In: Blog, Encouragement · on Jul 3, 2012

[box] “Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:4[/box] Our family recently laughed ourselves silly in front of videos of our kids as babes. Highchair time was clearly more about playing than the serious art of eating.  Carrot and pea-smothered faces, proud monosyllabic babbles for the camera ~ great material! The boys, now teens, howled watching one of them make his first crawl, or should I say first scoot.  “Come on!  You can do it!”  Frustrated when his body wouldn’t cooperate, he whined and got feisty.  Finally, with a grunt and push …

Ok, God, I’m Listening

by Cheryl · In: Blog, Comfort · on Apr 20, 2012

Prayer with a friend stopped short when I received a call from the school secretary saying, “Justin was in an accident during gym class.” Racing for the soccer ball in a one-on-one game against time, my eleven-year old collided heads with another boy. Arriving at the nurse’s office, my son lay flopped on her bench with an icepack to the back of his head, eyes glazed. The doctor said he suffered a concussion.  A CT scan showed a fracture to his temporal bone, the part of his skull behind the ear. My pastor’s words rang in my spirit, dangling with …

His Valentine

by Cheryl · In: Blog, Encouragement · on Feb 13, 2012

“I have loved you with an everlasting love…”  Jeremiah 31:3 Tripping through life, tossed and torn here and there, we manage to lose it, to leak it.  Where’d it go?  Where’s joy? Instead of bubbling out, it fizzles flat, leaving us without a wave or a pat.  We’re dry, needing a tune up in order to bloom up. Maybe we need to wake up, inhale the rush of salvation.  Christ’s resurrection power pushes us passed death, into the new garden we neglect too often. We’re saved!  No matter what’s wrong, there is a Holy Ghost song.  Earth is just a …

Put on your Dancing Shoes

by Cheryl · In: Blog, Encouragement · on Feb 9, 2012

The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the LORD holds them by the hand. Psalms 37:23,24 About that disappointment you’re feeling…  God’s working behind the scenes to make it a God-appointment.  That’s Sovereignty.  There are no missteps, only his steps; no detours, only God-tours. Rejoice in the Lord!  Shout aloud!  One blast of Jesus-joy, and say goodbye to those heavies. Remember how he called you?  How he flipped on the music, reached for your hand, saying, “May I have this dance?” You said, …

Prayer & Angels

by Cheryl · In: Blog, Quotes, Transformation · on Aug 19, 2011

“For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” 1 Peter 3:12 Stuff happens when we pray!  If we could draw back the spiritual veil, our jaws would drop to see God commissioning His angels to action for us! “Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?” Hebrews 1:14 Satan, mad at being kicked off the angelic prayer loop, resorts to age-old schemes.  Threatened by our faith-expressions, he tries to distract us from …
