I awaken in the middle of the night, fear-struck and wondering, “How will I finish this task when it’s so much bigger than I am?”
And the Lord says, “Nothing is bigger than I AM.”
Hovering close, His feathery Spirit slips truth into my worry-weighted one.
In healing waves, He pours Himself, freely. So what can I do but freely receive…

Lord, it’s a battle, this worry habit. After so many years of practice, I wonder if I’m too good at it.
“Practice letting ME be good at it for the rest of your years. Throw Me your weights and nestle under my wings as we fly.”
But…
[box] Don’t worry about such things. These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers all over the world, but your Father already knows your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and he will give you everything you need. Luke 12:29-31[/box]
Your invitation leaves me breathless…
How did I live out of Your order and expect Your order to chase me through my life?
How did I forget that I need to make You number one over all things?
Enough questions. I choose to make a shift…
On deadline, I cling to My Lifeline
knowing:
Seeking Your Kingdom precedes Your provision.
Oh Lord, Your Kingdom I seek.
Break me to break for Your people. I ache to do more than ache.
Whatever I do, I want to do it for you. Whether I pray, pay, give, live, glow, go, share and care… I “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else.”
Because of this shift you empower me to make, I ask this new question: Partner in Life, “What can I do for you today?”
I don’t ask out of compulsion, duty, formula, or a works-mentality.
I ask out of simple trust, obedience and love for my orderly God and His people.
I ask and I lighten…
knowing:
When I put You first, YOU take care of
the rest.
[box] Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Romans 12:2[/box]
Today’s application: Knowing God’s heart breaks in the midst of the tragic bombings at the Boston Marathon, I ask: “Lord, how can I seek your Kingdom in this? What would you have me do?
I sense Him saying, “first love them in prayer.”
Care to join me?
[box] Father of love, thank you that prayer changes things as we tap into Your power. Help us pray Your heart today and also be Your hands and feet. Rain deepest comfort on the families and friends of those wounded and killed. Assure them that You are with them and that You understand what it means to be innocent and fall into the hands of senseless hate. Great Physician, breeze deep inner healing, and surround them with tangible love both today and in the days ahead. Also Sovereign God, please invade the hearts of terrorists and make a change for eternity… [/box]

You’re right, Amy! And the more we picture Him with us, the smaller our problems appear. Because everything’s small potatoes compared to Jesus.
Absolutely beautiful prayer! I fail to see how anyone could be offended by a prayer to change the hearts of terrorists. Unfortunately, I think worry is one of those frenemies we like to hold close. We just always need to remember to hold God closer and it’s easier to let go of the worry. Thanks again for stopping by my blog Cheryl 🙂
