“Fear hangs out right next to whatever it is you’re most called to do. That means the closer you get to your calling, the louder fear sounds. Keep going – fear is a chihuahua that sounds like a Doberman.” — You’re Made for a God-sized Dream
My chihuahua is “Yaps” because he never shuts up.
Well, I have a few words for ol’ Yaps – if y’all don’t mind the accent. (I just got back from da South and dis one ‘ere kinda stuck wid me.)
Yaps, we’re through. It’s ova! Ya had me going fer a while, wid all yer yappin’ about ma weaknesses as I try to follow ma God-sized dreams! But no mo – I tell ya. No mo! Matter a fact – take dis:
[box] When I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:10[/box]
Jesus is da lion of Judah and He don’t go around yapping all da time. Dat Jesus, He’s secure. He’s all ‘bout building us up an’ such. You, on da other hand, are all ‘bout da opposite: knocking us down like dominos. Well, ya ain’t got me fooled; dat’s fo sho! So stick a bone in it, Yaps – and take dis too:
[box] The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” Romans 8:15[/box]
I’m actually snaughling now (laughing with a snort), ‘cause dis little bundle of weirdness (me) is memberin’ how I don’t need to have it all together. Nope, I just need to run alongside Big Abba, my Lion, dat’s who. He’s on ma side, so you better watch out. He’s gunna lick yo face, and stick ya in dat boilin’ hot doghouse!
La-la-la… Can’t hear ya no mo, Yaps, ‘cause I’m chewing on da meat of God’s Word. Dat’s right! Chow!
[box] But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice. John 10:5[/box]
From dis point forward, I’m writin’ a betta letta! Silly as it sounds, I gave into dat chihuahua’s rough-rough-rough-housing fa—too long. But no mo, I tell ya – ‘cause it’s time to write a betta letta!
Dear Lion of Judah,
Thank ya dat you haven’t given me a spirit of fer, but of love, power, and a sound mind….
Yo turn, God-sized dreamin’ pals… You get ta bow yer hearts, bow yer lives, and bow yer fers. In de comment section below, lets’ ear yo thoughts ‘n lettas to Big Abba! Thank ya kindly fer all yer ferless support– in de name of love!

Funny post today. If I dream tonight in a Southern accent I will know why. Thanks for sharing and reminding us who we are in Christ.

Ya, I had a little fun with Yaps today. Delonna, I love your name. And I love how you clued in about the identify part. Because of who He is, we can do anything through Him. Any stray fear must shrivel to nothing in HIs presence.
Sweet dreams, whether they’re accented or not. LOL!
And keep dreamin’ for Jesus!

Hey, I linked up next to you over at Holley’s. It’s kind of hard to fear a chihuahua but it’s true their bark is louder the closer you are. I read this is the twangiest accent I could muster and it made it all the more silly to think that we let such small things stand in the way when we have such a big God.
Cheryl Ricker
Yes, it’s “silly to think that we let such small things stand in the way when we have such a big God.” So. true.
God just wants willingness and availability, and He can do absolutely anything to and through us. But once fear barks and barges in, we get all silly and distracted.
And the chihuahua idea reminds me how Satan comes all disguised in soft innocence. He doesn’t necessarily scream, “Fear!” He simply lets out these little yaps i(n the sound of our our voice and spirit), hoping to knock us off God’s dream course.
But we cling to Jesus.
Yes, we feel fear as we get closer at no-turning back-from-our-calling point. Maybe we need to raise a shout in celebration. “I’m almost there!” “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength!”
Blessings on your day, and thanks so much for your comment!

I love the name of God as the Lion of Judah. What a powerful God we have. Way stronger than a little yapping dog.

So true. We just need to get this into our heads and our hearts. God = BIG. And He has more for us than we could ever dream or imagine.
