Hearing God

Home » Blog » Hearing God

by Cheryl · In: Blog, Transformation · on May 25, 2010

Even before we say “yes” to God, we hear His Spirit woo and whisper us near.  Listen as He reminds us how to thrive in our listening adventure.

Devour My Word, the Bible, your well-spring of foundational truth.  Approach it thirsty, humbly, empty, letting its water wash your spirit, shape your desires.  Mine its gold until it becomes you, infusing you with hope, clothing you with quiet confidence and captivating brilliance.

Learn discernment by paying attention to My inner warnings and promptings. “Don’t touch that; don’t go there; yes, do that, take this path.”  Learn to view narrow restrictions as wide, wild paths to freedom and safety.  Learn to view closed doors as promises to better doors opening.  Your obedience births trust, and your trust, obedience, while both birth better listening.

Listen to the right noise.  Pastors, prophets, evangelists, children, speakers, conversations, books, media… I can speak through anything and anyone, any time, any place, any where, but prioritize your noise.  If it doesn’t line up with my Word, it’s not good for your diet.  If it makes you spiritually anemic, go back to step number one and devour the purity of my Word.  You can’t feed others ’til you’re fed, full, and overflowing.

My head is so full at the moments some thoughts I know is from the enemy. I pray that I learn to hear our Lord more and stay on the right path. It would be so easy to give up. Xxx

Thanks for your comment, Sara! You’re not alone. We share the same enemy. Don’t lose heart; when the enemy comes in like a flood, the Lord will rise up a standard against Him.

God is your Commanding Officer in battle. He wants to give you hope today.
He led you here, and He’ll lead you the rest of the way!

Rejoice that you’re on the right path! You’re doing the right thing in seeking His will. He will always honor that prayer!

Greater is He that is in you than he (satan) that is in the world.
Stand strong, and put on the full armor of God!

I’m standing with you, sister warrior!

Hey Cheryl! Thank you for this beautiful reminder. My husband and I are on our way this very moment to do some talking… what is God teaching us, how to we need to abide Him in this time, what are our passions, etc. We want so badly to let Him be our EVERYTHING, our only source!

Thank you for your encouraging post on my post over at Tricia Goyer’s site 🙂
