Reconciled

Reconciled

Isn’t that what it’s all about—being reconciled to God and living as if we truly are? Jesus is all about reconciliation. Bridging the gap between the Father and us. “It is finished.”  The curtain tore in two. We can enter a meaningful life of intimacy with Jesus. Christ the King lives within! The same Spirit that raised Christ from the death lives in us! “But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.” 2 Corinthians 4:7 Merry Christmas! In the comment section, name one thing you are thankful for this Christmas. Also feel free to write a few lines of a random Christmas poem. Start with a word that comes to your mind and build from there. Have...

Losing My Mind

Losing My Mind

I am sick. I am tired. I am addicted. But God calls Himself the Great I AM.  And “I AM” is bigger than our problems. When God told Moses to confront Pharaoh about letting the Israelites go, Moses became nervous and said, “What do I tell them when they ask who sent me?” God said to Moses, “I am who I am.  This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you.’”  Genesis 3:14 And that’s exactly what Moses did.  He held God’s Name up high. Likewise, we can hold the great “I AM” in front of us too.  We need an attitude that says, “With God, I M able.” This world is full of trouble, but take courage, God, the I AM has already overcome the world. “I am the first and the last; apart from me there is no God.” Isaiah 44:6 The great I M protectively hems us in on all sides.  He stands big and mighty before every so-called “im-possibility,” so that nothing impossible with Him! I don’t know about you, but I want to think differently and lose my old mindset. I M healed. I M awake. I M free. What do you need from the great I M...

Cumulus Glory

Cumulus Glory

Seeing this wild cloud formation yesterday afternoon reminded me how we’re constantly in a battle between light and darkness. Will we say “yes” to the dark sweeping clouds of sin and let them swoop down and threaten our sky, or will we learn to hate what is evil and cling to what is good? A big white cloud of witnesses watches.  Our ever-present Savior eagerly waits to help us deal with enemy darkness in its various changing forms.  God gives us the gift of choice.  So what will we do? Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Come near to God and He will come near to you.  James 4:7-8 Trust with obedience is our safe place, rich to our souls and to the souls of others. As I type this, I can’t help but think of that old childhood chorus:  Trust and obey, for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey. Darkness may surround you, but you don’t have to let it darken you. I pray you feel as bright, white, and light as a thick sun-touched cumulus cloud. Always reflecting God’s...

He is Here

He is Here

Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem. They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them; but they were kept from recognizing him. He asked them, “What are you discussing together as you walk along?” They stood still, their faces downcast. One of them, named Cleopas, asked him, “Are you the only one visiting Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?” “What things?” he asked. “About Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied. “He was a prophet, powerful in word and deed before God and all the people. The chief priests and our rulers handed him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified him; but we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. And what is more, it is the third day since all this took place.  In addition, some of our women amazed us.They went to the tomb early this morning but didn’t find his body. They came and told us that they had seen a vision of angels, who said he was alive. Then some of our companions went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but they did not see Jesus.” He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?” And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself. As they approached the village to which they were going, Jesus continued on as if he were going farther. But they urged him strongly, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over.” So he went in to stay with them. When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them.  Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight. They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?” Luke 24:13-32 How many times do we moan, grieve, and lament over life’s circumstances that “appear” hopeless through natural eyes? We laugh at the disciples for failing to recognize Jesus,...

Closer Than You Think

Closer Than You Think

I’m as close as the mention of My name. Not even an inch can separate us. I blanket you with everything in Me and all I want is your love. You don’t have to jump high hoops to reach My approval. I approved you the moment I made you, and I don’t make mistakes. Here’s what I do with mistakes when you slip them in my hand: I turn them into dazzling diamonds—God-glorifying gems in the crown of your tested testimony. The more you see how much I treasure our closeness, the more you’ll treasure Me and rise to the perfect place of peace I designed for you. I’m in everything, even in the mist that rides the waves of your turbulent circumstances. When you don’t understand, know this: I delight in using the good and bad to show Myself strong in you and you in Me. One of life’s mysteries is My Sovereignty. No need to fear when the Prince of Peace hovers over you with joy-songs and delights in you more than life itself. Someday you’ll see Me in the fullness of My bigness. Until then, I invite you to see today’s trial as an opportunity to grow your vision and see Me as your closest, most dependable friend. I don’t want anything to come between us and I’ll fight for you all the way, moving heaven and earth to shape you holy and use you mightily. You don’t need to outgrow me like a security blanket. Depend on me like a little child and let me weave Myself into the fabric of your life until you’re like Me, stitch by stitch, hemmed in fully, safe and wild. “The Lord is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes. He is close to those who trust in him.” Nahum...
